California labor and employment lawyer review can help identify unpaid wages, overtime, break violations, and worker classification issues. A wage-and-hour problem may involve more than a payroll mistake. Workers may need to examine time records, pay statements, overtime calculations, meal and rest periods, classification, and final wages. The type of violation can also affect whether an administrative wage claim, civil lawsuit, or another remedy may be appropriate.

A severe injury does not automatically create a catastrophic injury claim; liability, causation, damages, and filing deadlines still control. In California, the word “catastrophic” describes the seriousness and long-term consequences of an injury. It does not replace the requirements of the underlying personal injury claim. The central questions are who was legally responsible, whether that conduct caused the harm, what losses can be proved, and whether the claim is timely.

An insurance lawyer may help when a denied, delayed, or underpaid claim becomes a dispute over coverage, evidence, or the insurer’s handling of the claim. Whether hiring counsel makes sense depends on what the policy says, why the insurer took its position, what evidence supports the claim, and what deadlines or procedures apply. A lawyer is not necessary for every disputed claim, but legal review becomes more useful when the disagreement moves beyond routine paperwork and turns into a question about coverage, claim handling, or substantial financial exposure.

Probate opens with a petition for letters under Probate Code § 8000, and the deadlines that matter start when the letters issue. A creditor must file its claim within four months of that date under § 9100, or within sixty days after notice of administration is given to it, whichever is later. A claim filed after that period is barred even if the debt is undisputed. A will is contested on its own clock. An objection may be filed before the will is admitted, and once an order admitting it has been entered, § 8270 allows a petition to revoke probate within 120 days. A no-contest clause is enforceable only against the three categories listed in § 21311, and a direct contest brought with probable cause does not trigger it. Assets held in trust do not pass through probate at all. The trustee must serve notification under § 16061.7 within sixty days of the settlor’s death, and that notice starts a 120-day period in which a beneficiary may bring a contest. Property held in joint tenancy or passing by beneficiary designation transfers outside the estate, so the personal representative has no authority over it.

The route depends on the award. An ICSID award is enforced under 22 U.S.C. § 1650a, which directs that it be given the same effect as a final judgment of a state court — Article V defenses do not apply, and annulment is available only before an ICSID annulment committee. A non-ICSID award, from an UNCITRAL or SCC tribunal, is enforced under Chapter 2 of the FAA, where the petition must be brought within three years under 9 U.S.C. § 207 and refusal is limited to the Article V grounds.Jurisdiction over the sovereign comes from the FSIA, not from the treaty. The arbitration exception at 28 U.S.C. § 1605(a)(6) supplies subject matter jurisdiction to confirm an award, and venue against a foreign state lies in the District of Columbia under § 1391(f)(4) — which is why many of these petitions are filed there rather than in New York. Confirmation and collection are separate problems. Immunity from execution survives the judgment, and under § 1610 only property used for commercial activity in the United States is reachable, after a notice period following entry of judgment. A pending annulment at the seat does not automatically stay enforcement; a stay is discretionary, and courts weighing it commonly require security.
