Anti money laundering investigation evidence may be challenged when a search warrant lacks probable cause or officers exceed its scope. A suspicious transaction does not itself authorize a search of someone's home or devices. In a New York criminal case, the warrant application, scope of the search, and method of evidence collection may affect whether financial evidence can be suppressed. Federal investigations follow separate procedural rules.

A California business litigation lawyer may handle a dispute from pre-suit assessment through discovery, settlement, trial, and appeal. The lawyer’s role changes as the dispute develops. Early work focuses on claims, forum, evidence, and possible resolution; later work centers on discovery, motions, trial, and judgment. State and federal courts follow different procedures, so the forum can change both deadlines and strategy.

Before filing a California construction claim, check notice requirements, arbitration terms, deadlines, venue, and evidence preservation.A construction dispute does not automatically begin with a complaint. New York does not require that discipline be fair. What it prohibits is retaliation for protected activity, and the question in these cases is whether the stated reason — a sudden negative review, a demotion, a disciplinary notice — was the real one. Labor Law § 740 was substantially broadened effective January 26, 2022. An employee now needs only a reasonable belief that the employer's conduct violates a law, rule or regulation, or poses a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety; proof of an actual violation is no longer required. Coverage extends to former employees and independent contractors, the limitations period is two years, and remedies include reinstatement, back and front pay, a civil penalty of up to $10,000, attorney's fees, and punitive damages for willful conduct. The statute ordinarily expects the employee to notify the employer and allow a chance to correct, with exceptions where there is imminent danger. Health care employees have a separate and broader provision in § 741. The federal deadlines differ sharply and are the reason timing matters more than the merits at the outset: 30 days to OSHA for a § 11(c) safety complaint, 180 days to OSHA under Sarbanes-Oxley § 806, 300 days to the EEOC for Title VII retaliation in New York, six years under Dodd-Frank — which, after Digital Realty Trust v. Somers, protects only those who reported to the SEC itself — and six years for a False Claims Act retaliation claim.
