He was commissioned as a prosecutor at the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office and served as a prosecutor at the Sangju Branch of the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, the Ministry of Justice, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, and the Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office. He also possesses abundant know-how accumulated over more than 20 years as a prosecutor, including as a deputy chief prosecutor at the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office and as a chief prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office and the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office. Having served as an Army judge advocate and prosecutor, Attorney Kim Geun-soo has experience with various military criminal cases and thus also possesses expertise in cases involving violations of the Military Criminal Act.
