As suspicions surrounding Le Seraphim Garam Kim as a perpetrator of school violence arose, the victim's side announced its position through a law firm.
On the afternoon of the 19th, Eunseo Yoo (pseudonym), who suffered school violence from Garam Kim, expressed her position through Daeryun Law Firm.
Regarding the report on the results of the Autonomous School Violence Countermeasures Committee, which was previously released through an online community, Yoo Eun-seo said, “The report on the results of the Autonomous Committee on School Violence Countermeasures, the authenticity of which is controversial, is consistent with the report on the results of the Autonomous Committee on Countermeasures against School Violence, signed by the principal of Gyeongin Middle School, that our law firm received from our client.”
“The victim (pseudonym ‘Yoo Eun-seo’) was subjected to school violence by Kim Garam and his friends around late April to early May 2018. Unable to endure the group bullying that continued thereafter, she transferred to another school within 1 to 2 weeks of the incident. Afterwards, the School Violence Countermeasures Autonomous Committee was held on June 4, 2018, and Kim Garam, the perpetrator of school violence, was in violation of the School Violence Prevention and Countermeasures Act. According to Article 17, Paragraph 1, Item 5, she was required to complete 6 hours of special education, and pursuant to Paragraph 9 of the same Article, she was required to complete 5 hours of special education for parents. Yoo Eun-seo, a victim of school violence, received protective measures such as psychological counseling and advice in accordance with Article 16, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the same Act.”
In addition, Yoo Eun-seo's side said, "Even though she transferred schools of her own volition because she could not endure the continued group bullying, she had a difficult time even after transferring, suffering from malicious rumors that 'Yoo Eun-seo was forced to transfer because of her fault.'" "About four years later, around April 2022, Garam Kim was revealed as a member of Le Seraphim, and friends who knew about the incident at the time contacted Eun-seo Yoo and asked, 'How could she cause school violence?'" “How can a perpetrator become a celebrity?” she expressed her anger, adding, “Yoo Eun-seo also remembered the incident at the time that she wanted to forget, and was also very stressed by the thought that she would have to continue to see through the mass media the perpetrator of school violence living a glamorous life as a celebrity in the future.”
Afterwards, Yoo Eun-seo's legal representative revealed that after a post alleging abuse by Garam Kim, which she did not write, was posted on an online community bulletin board, the victim's real name was revealed through a comment, and she received various malicious messages and even threats through Facebook messages and Twitter posts.
In addition, Yoo Eun-seo's legal representative responded to the expression 'malicious harm' in the statement first released by Le Seraphim's agency, Hive, saying, "As Hive's statement above was added, the indiscriminate secondary harm against Eun-seo Yoo became more severe. As a result, Eun-seo Yoo cried and said, 'It will only end when I die,' and refused to go to school. Eun-seo Yoo's guardian sent a letter to Hive to this law firm. “We have delegated the matter of sending a proof of content regarding the victim’s position and filing a criminal complaint against comments to the effect that Yoo Eun-seo posted an expose about Garam Kim.”
The content certification sent to Hive included the details of the collective harm committed by Garam Kim against Eunseo Yoo, the current situation in which the victim is suffering due to the misunderstanding that he maliciously slandered Garam Kim, Eunseo Yoo's petition, and a report on the results of the Autonomous School Violence Countermeasures Committee.
In addition to this proof of content, Yoo Eun-seo's side said, "We requested that you delete the statement that is different from the facts, that you express your position based on the facts again, that you apologize to the victims, and that you do not express a position that differs from the facts in the future based on the one-sided statements of Garam Kim and his friends." He added, "However, Hive did not give any reply to this, and Garam Kim's entertainment activities continued as if nothing had happened." It was shocking to hear that Yoo Eun-seo made an extreme attempt and even announced her intention to drop out of school.
Next, Yoo Eun-seo's side said, "If Hive continues to maintain the position that 'the allegations are malicious slander and Garam Kim is the victim' without a sincere apology to the victim, this law firm will disclose the full report of the results of the Autonomous School Violence Countermeasures Committee, including the case summary, in order to protect the minor victim, and request the victim's detailed statement about the terrible reality of school violence at the time, which was not included in the case summary, and call the victim to the site of the group assault. “We are also considering releasing the full text of the message containing abusive language,” he warned, adding, “We hope that Hive and its affiliate Source Music will pay special attention to this to prevent further secondary harm.”
