Providing one-stop assistance including election preparation, National Election Commission investigation, investigation, and trial
Daeryun Law Firm announced on the 21st that it has launched an election response team ahead of the 22nd general election of the National Assembly on April 10.
A Daeryun official explained on this day, “With election violence and nervous warfare heating up, Daeryun’s election response team plans to analyze pledges and prevent legal disputes.”
■ Consisting of former criminal defense attorneys skilled in investigation and trial
The election response team is made up of former government lawyers who are skilled in investigating and trialing cases of violations of the Public Official Election Act.
Kim Kuk-il (24th class, Judicial Research and Training Institute), a former head of the prosecution branch who has handled many criminal cases of politicians, and Son Soon-hyuk (18th class, a lawyer skilled in responding to election law violation cases) served as team leaders.
Representative Kim is serving as vice president of the National Citizens Movement Coalition for Reporting Corruption in Public Officials. He has handled many criminal cases against influential politicians.
Attorney Son handled cases such as violation of election laws in the Haeundae and Gijang National Assembly by-elections and violations of election laws for Gijang-gun, Haeundae-gu mayor, and Geumjeong-gu mayor candidates. Currently residing in the Daeryun regional office, we plan to provide prompt service to customers outside the metropolitan area.
Attorney Kim Jin-won (21st class), Na Chang-soo (31st class), Seo Bong-ha (31st class), and Kang Hyeong-yoon (42nd class) are former lawyers who have handled election law violations cases involving numerous presidential candidates, National Assembly members, and local government heads, and are expected to respond from the investigation stage.
In particular, Attorney Na is also working as an external lecturer in the field of public official crimes at the Audit and Training Institute, and Attorney Kang was evaluated as an expert in public investigation during his time as a prosecutor.
In addition, it is evaluated that the team has formed an organization suitable for election-related advice and response to violations of the Public Official Election Act, with lawyers who have been working for a long time at the Prosecutor's Office and the Public Security Department and lawyers with experience as legal advisors to local election commissions joining.
CEO Kook-il Kim explained, “We have become the optimal response team as it is comprised of experts with practical experience related to election law violations in the prosecution and courts,” and “We are able to provide a comprehensive and rapid response in all stages, from election preparations to the National Election Commission investigation, investigation, and trial.”
■ Providing one-stop legal services linked to specialized group work
The Daeryun election response team completed a review of laws and precedents related to the April 10 general election, and differentiated itself by conducting analysis of public opinion trends using the capabilities and technologies of the evidence investigation and digital forensics group.
The election response team plans to provide one-stop legal services in all areas, from election preparation and election campaign response to consultation, investigation, and trial assistance.
In particular, while expanding and reorganizing, we are also conducting organic business linkages with the detective group and investigation response team, which are comprised of many talented people. This is to respond to the National Election Commission investigation, prosecution and police investigation, and illegal acts by the opposing candidate due to the spread of false information, fake news, and black propaganda.
According to the prosecution, as of the 29th of last month, a total of 113 people had been booked for election offenses related to the 22nd general election, of which 7 were indicted and 85 are under investigation.
Among the types of election crimes, black propaganda was the most common with 47 cases (41.6%), followed by bribery election crimes and illegal acts by public officials and organizations with 24 and 8 cases, respectively. Four cases of election violence and obstruction were recorded.
The detective group and the investigation response team within the group have extensive experience in cases such as the spread of false information, bribery, and perjury, so they will be actively involved in the initial response in the prosecution and police investigation.
Representative Kim said, "Cases of election law violations are on the rise. Even if we win the general election, there are many cases where people are indicted for election law violations. We need to look at it differently from general criminal cases. The statute of limitations is also short at 6 months, so we need to respond quickly to investigations and investigations."
Daeryun plans to maintain a team to respond at all times as legal issues related to elections, such as general elections and local elections, continue to arise.
