Daeryun Law Firm (Lihan) announced on the 18th that it recently hired attorney Doo-yeon Jeong, a former investigative examiner at the Coast Guard who specializes in police investigations.
Attorney Jeong is an expert who has observed numerous police investigations by working as an investigative examiner at the Central Regional Coast Guard Investigation Department and the Korea Coast Guard Investigation and Review Department.
The investigative examiner is a position introduced by the Coast Guard ahead of the implementation of the adjustment of investigative powers of the prosecution and police, and is responsible for evaluating and inspecting police investigations from an objective perspective. In particular, those who hold a lawyer's license or are police officers with at least 7 years of investigative experience are selected through a strict screening process.
Attorney Jeong has served as an investigative examiner and warrant examiner for a considerable period of time and has observed or conducted police investigations.
Representatively, it was in charge of the investigation and review of the case in which 21 Chinese people smuggled into Taean in 2020 and the review of warrants in the case of the shooting of a public official in the West Sea.
With Attorney Jeong joining, Daeryun Law Firm plans to focus more on strengthening its capabilities to respond to investigations, including police investigations.
Attorney Jeong said, “Cases such as sexual crimes, child abuse, and embezzlement must be dealt with clearly at the police investigation stage,” and added, “Based on my experience watching various police investigations as an investigative examiner, I will actively assist the client to ensure that the investigation progresses in the desired direction.”
Meanwhile, Daeryun is currently expanding and reorganizing its detective group and establishing an investigation response team within the group, recruiting lawyers who are former police officers and experts who are former investigators at each police station.
A collaboration system was established with the evidence investigation and digital forensics group, and a prior experience system was established to obtain favorable results by operating a mock investigation room.
