Daeryun Law Firm announced on the 19th that it successfully completed a joint seminar on the theme of 'Disaster reduction and strengthening legal risk response capabilities for sustainable management.'
This seminar, held on the 16th in the conference room of Daeryun's headquarters office in Yeouido, Seoul, was prepared in cooperation with the Korea Corporate Disaster Management Association and the Korea Continuity Research Institute.
In this seminar, which was prepared to explore practical corporate response plans in response to the expanded implementation of the Severe Accident Punishment Act, practitioners in charge of disaster, safety, and risk management within companies attended and showed great interest.
The seminar consisted of a total of three sessions, and experts from each field appeared as presenters.
First, in the first session, Yang Jun, CEO of Korea Continuity Research Institute, gave a lecture on the topic of ‘Measures to promote disaster reduction activities to ensure field operability.’
Representative Yang emphasized the need to respond to internal and external risks by combining the Severe Accident Punishment Act and Business Continuity Plan (BCP). In particular, he explained that a safety culture should be established that analyzes disasters by segmenting them according to severity and prevents even minor accidents from developing into major disasters through thorough investigation.
The second session was led by Team Leader Park Jong-pil of the Korea District Heating Corporation, and he continued his presentation on the topic, 'Why do companies' disaster and safety measures fail in the field?'
Team Leader Park pointed out the limitations of regulation-centered safety management through a recent analysis of the status of industrial accidents and called for a paradigm shift to an autonomous safety culture. In addition, through the case of Korea District Heating Corporation's AI-based smart safety management platform, we introduced how digital transformation and new technology linkage lead to real-time on-site monitoring and improved safety levels for partners.
In the last session, Jeong Sang-hyeok, lawyer at Daeryun Corporate Advisory Center, gave a presentation on the topic of ‘An organization’s legal risk response in the event of a major disaster.’
Attorney Jeong looked at the background of the introduction of the Serious Accident Punishment Act and the structure of its provisions, and also provided step-by-step guidance on the case handling procedures that companies must follow when an accident occurs. In addition, based on frequent accident cases such as falling and getting caught and actual judgments, key factors that determine punishment were analyzed and practical prevention methods and response strategies for companies were guided.
Daeryun Kim Kook-il, CEO of Management, said, "In the event of a disaster, the actual operation of the pre-emptive response system and the level of legal risk response are becoming key factors that determine the survival or failure of a company. I hope that through this seminar, corporate officials have obtained practical solutions needed to establish a crisis management and sustainable management system."
Meanwhile, Daeryun announced that since the expansion of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, it has expanded related centers within the corporate legal group and is providing customized legal advice and risk management services to companies through lawyers specializing in related fields such as labor and industrial accidents.
