On December 3, 2024, the entire nation was shaken by news of President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of "martial law." Although the martial law was lifted within six hours, the public's fierce backlash—that the political situation could no longer be entrusted to President Yoon—led to a motion of impeachment. Even after the impeachment motion was passed, President Yoon has offered no meaningful response, refusing to accept documents and declining to comply with requests to submit them. Yet the time remaining for President Yoon ticks steadily away. We look beyond the bench of the Constitutional Court at the ruling that will ultimately be handed down on June 11, 2025.
