Daeryun Law Firm forms a ‘one team’ with diverse talents... Expecting a ‘quantum jump’
2025-06-25

Daeryun Law Firm is strengthening its litigation competitiveness and corporate legal response ability through a systematic expert recruitment system and a ‘One Team’ strategy for each group.
Daeryun announced on the 25th that it had recruited 79 additional lawyers and experts this year alone.
At Daeryun, a variety of experts, including accountants, patent attorneys, tax accountants, labor attorneys, and customs experts, as well as lawyers, collaborate to provide legal assistance.
It is thanks to the achievements accumulated so far that we have been able to secure talented people with such diverse practical experience. Daeryun, which has grown into one of the top 10 law firms in Korea by adapting the advanced system of global law firm Baker McKinsey to the domestic situation, is seeking to become a global mega law firm, starting with the opening of New York and Washington offices in the second half of this year.
■Recruiting experts who cross boundaries... Providing multifaceted solutions
Securing talent with rich experience and a wide range of occupations is one of Daeryun's core competitiveness. Last January, lawyer Cho Young-gon (16th class of the training institute), who served as the chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, joined. While Attorney Cho was serving as Chief Prosecutor, he led major cases such as the Four Major Rivers investigation and illegal tax evasion by large corporations. Attorney Yeo Sang-won (17th class), who has experience as chief judge of the Seoul Central District Court, is also one of the key members. Attorney Yeo won the drug price reduction lawsuit on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, won the Minister's Award, and has diverse experience, including as a trial researcher at the Supreme Court and as an arbitrator at the Korea Commercial Arbitration Board. The two lawyers will serve as the head of Daeryun's special practice division and the head of the first department, respectively, and will be at the forefront of corporate and medium-to-large cases, including leading the SKT hacking lawsuit.
In addition, veterans such as Shin Il-soo (19th class), who served as chief judge of the Seoul Central District Court, Cho Young-sam (24th class), who served as a judge at the Chuncheon District Court, and Kang Young-woo (35th class), who served as chief of the Daegu Southern Police Station, are joining the ranks. Based on his 21 years of experience as a judge, Attorney Shin serves as the head of the Litigation Performance Management Division and directs all litigation matters. In the case of Attorney Cho, who joined as the head of the civil arbitration group, he led the Supreme Court's first precedent that land use fees related to recognition of long-term grave base rights can be claimed. Attorney Kang, who worked as a police officer for about 20 years after graduating from the Judicial Research and Training Institute, handles criminal cases in Daeryun based on his experience investigating various violent crimes.
Experts from various occupations are also Daeryun’s central workforce. Key figures include Advisor Ahn Il-hwan, who worked in public office for 35 years at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Economic Planning Board and served as Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Presidential Secretariat; Expert Kwak Nami, who led numerous patent litigation and licensing operations at large corporations such as Samsung Medison and SK Hynix; and Advisor Choi Myeong-sun, who worked at the National Health Insurance Corporation for about 30 years, including serving as the head of the Gwangju Branch of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.
■Focusing on finance, big tech, and IT, the ‘three tracks’ are in full swing
Daeryun is establishing a strategic operating system for each base to strengthen corporate legal affairs. Focusing on the so-called ‘triangular belt’ connecting Gangnam, Yeouido, and Pangyo, we are responding to the needs of each industry, including finance, big tech, and startups. We provide advanced legal solutions by strengthening industry-specific advisory and litigation capabilities.
Accordingly, lawyers specializing in corporate consulting and litigation are joining the ranks. Recently, Lee Sang-kwon (31st class), the first debt collection lawyer registered with the Korean Bar Association, Ho Gyu-chan (36th class), who served as head of the legal team at K Bank, and ‘Construction Tong’ Shin Young-sik (39th class) newly joined the group.
This lawyer has performed over thousands of collection tasks, both domestically and internationally, and has undertaken compulsory execution procedures, including seizure of hundreds of bonds, real estate, and stocks. Attorney Ho, a financial legal strategist, worked at Hana Bank and K Bank and achieved results by taking on major cases such as promoting bank mergers and responding to Financial Supervisory Service inspections. Attorney Shin has led major cases to victory, such as the lawsuit claiming 13 billion won in expected construction profits against Y Reconstruction Association, and has supported various construction and real estate affairs, including being in charge of evidence investigation for administrative dispositions of construction companies as a hearing presiding officer for the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
■Goal of entering major overseas cities… Forward deployment of global professional talent
In this way, we are strengthening our expertise by recruiting key domestic talent and using this year as the first year of our global expansion based on our achievements in Korea. Ahead of the opening of the New York and Washington offices in the second half of the year, a working meeting was held with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York on the 4th. In the future, we aim to expand into major overseas cities such as London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Experts in each field also joined. At the forefront are U.S. attorney Dong-hoo Son (New York), who supported Celltrion Healthcare's expansion into the U.S. and the Small and Medium Business Corporation's overseas consulting projects, Mia Kim (Washington D.C.), an U.S. attorney well-versed in consulting on U.S. corporate establishment and immigration and visa-related work, and customs expert Jae-ho Myung, who oversaw domestic and international trade reviews at affiliates of large corporations and customs corporations.
Daeryun CEO Kim Gook-il said, “Daeryun’s core competitiveness lies in recruiting customized talent based on expertise and a practice-oriented operating system. In order to actively respond to the rapidly changing global legal market, Daeryun will continue to recruit talent with expertise in each field and field-oriented execution ability, and create meaningful results in line with the expansion of corporate legal subjects and global expansion.”
