Hello. I am inquiring with a U.S. immigration attorney because I would like to obtain U.S. permanent residency. I currently reside in Korea and am seriously considering immigrating to the United States. I understand there are various methods, and I would like to know which one suits my situation. I look forward to advice from attorneys with extensive experience in U.S. immigration.

There are three ways to obtain U.S. permanent residency: family sponsorship, employment-based immigration, and investment-based immigration.
Family sponsorship is a method by which a citizen brings their parents, spouse, children, or siblings to the United States and enables them to obtain permanent residency.
Parents, spouses, and minor children can obtain permanent residency within about one year, but other family members may take a long time, so it is advisable to check in advance.
A permanent resident can sponsor only their spouse and minor children, and a distinctive feature is that the scope of family sponsorship is more limited than that of a citizen.
Employment-based immigration is possible where a person has a bachelor's degree from the United States or Korea, or has five or more years of work experience.
However, there is a caveat that you must confirm whether the workplace where you will be employed is financially sound.
Investment-based immigration is divided into direct investment immigration and indirect investment immigration.
Direct investment refers to permanent residency granted where a person invests 2 million dollars and creates employment for ten or more people.
Unlike this, indirect investment immigration refers to a method in which an immigrant invests 500,000 dollars or more to develop an underdeveloped area and obtains permanent residency.
Because the U.S. immigration process is complex and changes frequently, it is advisable to obtain the assistance of a U.S. immigration attorney.
Please note that it is advisable to find the immigration method best suited to you through a consultation with a U.S. immigration attorney, and to proceed smoothly with the immigration process by reducing mistakes in preparing documents and in the procedures.
