How do I file a loss of nationality report?

Loss of nationality takes effect when certain reasons occur under law, but administratively, it is a matter that needs to be settled through a separate reporting procedure.

Therefore, acquiring foreign nationality does not automatically result in the loss of Korean nationality, and you must file a loss of nationality report to settle various family relations registers and administrative records.

Cases requiring loss of Korean nationality reporting include when a Korean national voluntarily acquires foreign nationality, when a person who acquired Korean nationality has not renounced foreign nationality within 6 months, or when a dual national has not chosen one nationality within the nationality choice period, etc.
