If indecent assault is committed against a soldier, the punishment may be even more severe than ordinary indecent assault.

In the case of ordinary indecent assault, under Article 298 of the Criminal Act, the penalty is imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of up to 15 million won.

However, in the case of indecent assault by a soldier, under Article 92-3 of the Military Criminal Act, indecent acts accompanied by violence or intimidation can be punished with imprisonment of 1 year or more.
