Q
Can I report online sexual harassment?
浏览量4,081
I'm a public official. I'm at risk of receiving a fine for indecent assault sex crime charges, and I'm very worried. If a public official receives a fine, does this constitute grounds for disciplinary action and dismissal? I'd appreciate detailed advice from someone with similar experience or a knowledgeable sex crime attorney or expert. It's urgent.

If you have repeatedly posted or transmitted expressions causing sexual humiliation or sexual insult online, you can report it as online sexual harassment.
This is because online sexual harassment can be punished under Article 13 (Obscenity Using Communication Media) of the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
In particular, the following acts can clearly constitute crimes.
∙ Repeatedly posting sexually demeaning remarks, appearance evaluations, or obscene jokes on SNS or community sites
∙ Continuously sending sexually-related remarks or remarks mentioning body parts via messages or DMs
Such online sexual harassment can be punished under the offense of obscenity using communication media with imprisonment of up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million won.
For reporting, it is important to secure evidence such as screenshots of the posts, posting times, and the author's account.
Online sexual harassment causes significant psychological shock to victims and is often combined with defamation or insult charges.
Therefore, if you secure evidence from the early stage and proceed with criminal complaints and removal measures together with an entertainment attorney experienced in influencer defamation and digital sex crime cases, swift response is possible.
